Spring Cleaning/ Decluttering Tips

Before landscaping projects begin to pile up, this is an excellent time to rent a dumpster trailer and declutter your home. The following are tips and that will help you efficiently manage your project.
Mark your calendar: Just as you would any appointment, set aside time. House clean outs generally can not be done in a weekend, be generous as possible with the time you set aside!
Do an initial sweep: Go through each room taking out obvious items (broken items, duplicates, expired paperwork etc). This will give you a clearer vision of your project and more room for sorting.
*This might be a time to consider renting a dumpster.
Organize: Go through remaining items and sort into 3 piles (throw, keep & donate). This step can be the most overwhelming. Allow yourself a break or break up portions of a room when needed (office desk, children’s closet etc).
Putting the “keep” pile in its proper place: After you have dropped off items to be donated and you have loaded your dumpster, make sure the “keep” pile is attended. Ensure the room an item is intended to be kept is fully gone through before you place it there.
Keep in Mind:
-Just because something is useful, does not mean you should keep it.
-If you don’t use it or it doesn’t bring you joy, it does not belong in your home.
